Half Moon Bay, Heysham

Wow!  A huge thank you needs to go to Mrs Norton and Emma from The Wildlife Trust who made sure our day at the beach was fantastic.  It was amazing!

We arrived at the beach and had a look around, we could see the Lake District from where we stood and also Heysham Power Station next to us.

Our first challenge was to find as many interesting items as we could.  We picked up different coloured shells, driftwood, and even egg cases!!  The eggs were of the stingray variety.  Some of us were even brave enough to hold the lug worms from under the sand.

After snack time, we went rock pooling and found two types of jellyfish – the moon jellyfish and the lion’s mane jellyfish (which can still sting after it is dead).  Crabs came to peek at us too.
